Eco Council

Welcome to the Eco Council!

The Eco Council is made up of two representatives from each year group in the school.  We aim  to make Thameside a school with children who appreciate the natural world and act responsibly towards the environment.  Each September we elect a new team and come up with an agenda for the academic year ahead.  Keep up to date with what we have been doing by visiting our display board in the activity area.  If you any suggestions, please tell your eco councillor.

This year, we are highlighting the devastating impact of climate change around the world.  By thinking about the slogan "Think Global - Act Local" we are finding ways in school to reduce carbon emissions.  To gain our Eco-Schools Award, we hope to:

  •  find ways to increase eco-friendly travel to and from school,
  • re-establish the Green Lightbulb Award to reduce wasted electricity,
  • start up a Terra-cycle scheme to improve recycling opportunities, and
  • plant hedges or trees to offset carbon production.
